Good morning,
Hello to all families. I will be sending home, yet another form for my use, to keep in the classroom of your contact numbers and information on your child. Thank you.
We will begin "Snap" words this week which will be on our word wall in the class. They will go home in the form of a bracelet for you to help them read, spell and write. These words will be expected to always be spelled correctly in their writing.
Spelling will begin this week with the first 5 lessons being about phonics. All grade ones will have a spelling workbook to work in during class time. There will not be weekly tests as research shows that spelling is best practised and learned when writing. Something to do at home with these words are to do activities on Spelling City online and I will give you that information when we begin Week 6 and the word lists.
Please continue to read the weekly chart poem with your child in their yellow "shared reading" folder and bring in on Friday for the new poem to be inserted. The kids can show me a completed row any time, for a sticker.
IXL will hopefully be up and running soon. The school has run out of spots and I'm just waiting to complete the rest of the class.
RAZ Kids reading online will also come soon. Information to follow shortly.
I only received one Scholastic order this month and if our order is not over $25.00 they charge for shipping and handling and I will keep the order until the following month.
The Terry Fox walk is on the 28th. Please let our Grade Parents know if you can supervise a group of kids and/or just come along for the walk. Thanks
We are working on number words to ten, reading and writing them.
