Dear Parents,

Hello, This week's snap words are - but, by, have, I, not. I encourage the kids to read the word wall every day.

The spelling words are for Week 3 - his, is, an, and, can, all, call, land, hand, small + 2 bonus words. (could be Halloween words)

The children have been writing about their Halloween costume and this week will write a about a Halloween event or a scary story. They have been exposed to Halloween words and are encouraged to use them in their writing.

We have talked about "scooping their words" when reading (i.e.in small phrases). As they begin to read more fluently, they will begin to do this. When kids are reading at their independent level (so that they don't struggle) they can do this.

Please continue to have the kids colour in their squares in the Shared Reading folder and give to me for stickers when a row is completed. The reading can be any reading and not just the poems. Thanks for your help.


The children will bring home a book from their reading bag. Yes it will be an easy one, however they are learning to use the reading strategies they have learned while reading books that they don't struggle with. Please return the books the following morning. Thanks

I still have not had my Smart Board serviced and unfortunately the interactive part isn't working. Hopefully soon!!

In Math we will finish up graphing and move on to patterning by the end of the week. We will continue with adding simple number sentences at the same time.

We continue to discuss and work on  Daily and Seasonal Cycles in Science and Rules and Responsibilities in Social Studies.

Please ensure your child has a pair of dry shoes to wear in the classroom if it is wet outside.

There is a Haunted House this Friday put on by the Grade 8's. They tone it down for the younger grades and it is optional.

There is a Pizza lunch on Friday.

Please have the kids come in costume on Monday for the Parade in the morning. Thanks.
