Hello,
I hope you had a nice Family Day weekend!
Our trip to Harbourfront is on the 24th. Please bring in a shoe box for the kids to carry their clay mask home. Thank you.
We will not have snap words this week.
Spelling words from last week are - make, came, gave, name, take, game, place, bake (long a) We will review these words and have the test on Friday. There will now be 8 words each week.
The kids will begin this week to learn about what a story plan is. All stories have the same basic parts.Character, setting, problem and resolution. This will lead into narrative writing.
We continue with reading comprehension and retelling the important parts of a story - beginning, middle and end.
Some children are starting to bring in their materials and fasteners for the building project. Please return the design sheet/marking rubric as well. This is part of the assignment. And as a reminder, all building will be done in school. Please do not bring in anything that is put together. Also if you could bring in a base for it to be built on then it would be sturdier and could be moved. Thanks for your help with this.
We will begin a writing project (with Flat Stanley) that will start the week before March break and continue the week after March break. The information will come home today. We are now reading the book in class.
We have completed 3D solid shapes in math and are now looking at number patterns on the hundreds chart and counting patterns, by 5's, 10's, 2's (3's and 4's are more advanced) to 100 forward and backward. You could help at home by practicing this type of counting.
We will look at place value and continue with adding and subtracting to 20.
Have a great week!
